Misogyny of Synonyms
A semester long project of creating a poster for a multi-media opera based off a poem by Nayirrah Waheed. The poem is titled "Misogyny of Synonyms" and is only two lines; "a woman is not a girl / a girl is not a woman". The final poster is meant to be a celebration of gender and how genitalia does not define what it means to be a woman. Phallic and yonic imagery of fruit and a gender-coded color palette of blues and pinks are used to reinforce this idea of breaking the gender norm.
